COLM O'GRADY
- BIO
"If I were a sandwich I would be one of those sambo's from Scooby Doo. Squashed between two slices of Theatre and Circus; there would be a generous, overflowing filling of Clown, Cabaret and Comedy with a smattering of Music, no onions and a bit of mayonnaise. Tasty!"
Born in the heart of Dublin, Colm began his career as a street performer and later worked as an American TV show stunt man to pay for his studies.
He started his training as a Classical Actor at the Dublin School of Acting. From there he studied in London with L'ecole Phillippe Gaulier for two years in Clown, Mask, Bouffon and Physical Theatre developing a distinct personal style.
Since then he has toured the world extensively performing on 5 different continents with numerous solo and duo shows, touring with theatre & circus companies and facilitating circus theatre and clown workshops.
Colm has been a good boy by continuing his studies in physical theatre and movement by following a pedagogy with Monika Pagneux's masterclasses annually for 5 years.
He is currently based in Belgium as an 'artistic refugee' and spends his time creating shows, training new circus skills, music and touring.
He has kept a strong link with his Irish roots as a result of his continual performance, directing and teaching work there and also with the co-founding and artistic direction of Clowns Without Borders-Ireland.
